DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, 55mm, high grade mvt elegantly recased in 14-16K early American KW HC by Peters & Boss (Philadelphia, active 1856-1860), plugged ET gold cuvette, SW-LS, WE-DSD, fully capped lever escapement, 20-21J, single central GJS, polished steel caps, fausses-côtes and stripe pattern NI damascene, s#291498. The quality of the casing makes it likely that a customer ordered a special upgrade to V&C mvt for their family watch, the mvt new when cased. Gross weight of assembled watch 84.9 dwt (132.2 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, mint mvt condition overall; dial perfect, edge microflecks only; hands mint; case shows light wear, some MFS, very light dent in front and ding in back, ET detail half gone, border, band, pendant and bow detail excellent; bow tight, thinned at top, crown shows little wear, rose color contrasting with the yellow case; good glass crystal.
